MOUNT Gambier High School house Tower has won the top spot at its Ian Gould Interhouse Athletics competition for the fourth year in a row.
The weather was primed for two days of a competition for the carnival.
This year, the novelty events were a success with high participation numbers across all age groups.
The newly created BAT Dance Battle also added an exciting energy to the day.
Year 7 students also got involved in their first athletics carnival and have been commended for their efforts over the two days of competitions.
Students said the day was enjoyable as well as a “fun way to build school culture” while others said it was an enjoyable and “overall a great day” with mates.
Special sports coordinator Abbey Duncan said there were plenty of great competition and rivalry yet the support, sportsmanship, behaviour and positive energy students displays “exactly aligned” with what the high school stood for.
“These types of whole school events are a fantastic opportunity to see students in a setting outside the classroom, but it is just as valuable for students to see their teachers out of the classroom too,” Ms Duncan said.
The athletics team will also compete in the SSSA Athletics Carnival as well as in the 79th Annual South East Zone Athletics Carnival hosted by Tenison Woods College.
