PENOLA and District will celebrate the tenth birthday of its Community Bank on Wednesday June 26.

Community Bank Penola and District opened on June 26, 2014 after many years hard work from a band of dedicated volunteers who wanted to establish a locally-owned and operated banking alternative in their community.

Since then, the branch has grown to more than $60 million in business, from more than 850 customers and more than $325,000 invested back into the community.

The local board of directors, branch staff, customers and community will mark the branch’s tenth year of operation with a birthday party at the branch on Tuesday June 25th from 4pm until 6pm with drinks and nibbles at Vintage Café.

Chair Shane McPherson said the branch’s first 10 years had been a challenging – but ultimately rewarding – time.

“This has been a true community venture, and our board of local directors have continued to volunteer their time to ensure Community Bank Penola and District is a success story,” he said.

Branch manager, Tara Batt said all the hard work is paying off, with the Penola and District community continuing to support their local branch.

“It’s been so rewarding to be able to support the community and in return, see the community coming through the door to do their banking,” she said.

“These faces are now a familiar part of the Community Bank Penola and District family, who we are so excited to be celebrating our tenth birthday with.”
