Penola claimed its third consecutive win when the Eagles defeated Kybybolite in Round 6 of Kowree Naracoorte Tatiara netball.

The Tigers entered the game in strong form and were undefeated at the top of the ladder.

However, the reigning premiers were up to the task and challenged Kybybolite from the outset.

Both sides were solid in defence and put attackers under pressure in an end-to-end contest.

The Eagles went into the first break with a three-goal lead thanks to impressive shooting from Penola’s goalies.

April Possingham continued her impressive run of form and scored 47 goals for the game.

Possingham and Ashley Earl shot with perfect accuracy in the second quarter to extend the Eagles’ lead to five goals at halftime.

Gorgia Sealey and Chelsea Bull combined effectively for Kybybolite as the league leaders kept the pressure up.

Maddy Teakle and Brooke Klemm continued their strong work in the defensive circle and caused a number of turnovers and attacked the rebounds.

The second half was evenly matched as the Tigers searched for a way back into the contest.

However, the Eagles refused to give the Tigers an inch and led by six points at the end of the third quarter.

The physicality of Kybybolite forced errors from Penola but the Eagles battled on in the final quarter to claim a seven-goal win.

Maddy Teakle and April Possingham were Penola’s best players.

The Eagles remain in sixth place on the ladder, one win outside the top four.
