One of Penola’s oldest residents, Mr Alex Bowden not only celebrated his 95th birthday on the weekend but will also celebrate Father’s Day on Sunday.

” I lost my Dad at the age of 69 so Father’s Day doesn’t really hold many memories, however it is a tradition,” Alex said.

However Alex strongly agrees that as you get older family is very important.

“It was wonderful that I could get together with all my family (except one) and friends to celebrate my 95th birthday,” Alex said.

Ken, Alex’s twin son said he agreed with his dad that Father’s Day is a tradition, however to be able to be around dad is fantastic.

“We are taking Dad to Mount Gambier to celebrate Father’s Day with his grandaughter , Kirsty and other family members.

Ken said there are many families that don’t have their parents, and I am just so lucky that I have both of mine.

“I just don’t know how I would feel if I didn’t and it is great to be able to spend quality family time together,” he said.
