Penola Netball players head into finals

B Grade: Aimee Lepley, Hannah Klemm, Sarah Eustace, Jessica Lucas, Teegan Galpin, Lucy Catlin and front; Jessica Blackmore, Kim Wilson, Mandy Gartner and Amanda Wurst.

Three Penola netball teams will be hitting the court in the grand final this weekend.

In the A reserves there will be:

GS – Karly Honner. As reliable as they come. Mrs most consistent this year in the league! Extremely accurate and has a solid hold on her. Can shoot from anywhere.

GA – Tayla McKeon. Young and quick, Tay uses her pace to set up plenty of scoring opportunities. Unfortunately did her ACL late in the season and is now the team’s number 1 supporter and team manager.

GA – Kaitlin Egan. Qualified just in time and thank god she did. Has stepped up to the challenge of revisiting the goal circle. A brilliant attacker who has a calm head under pressure and a wealth of netball experience.

WA – Sophie Schulz. A WA specialist who sets up the forward line with her drive and pinpoint accuracy when feeding the goalies. Has thoroughly enjoyed coaching this group and can’t wait to see what they deliver on the weekend.

C – Sally Skeer. Vice captain. Will drive hard all day and put it all on the line. Never gives up. Played 250 games this year and has aged like a fine wine! The rest of the team thrive by having Sally in their team.

WD – Ellise Berkin. A first year senior who is dangerous in WD with her speed and ability to intercept and tap the ball around the circle. She can be relied upon when bringing the ball out of defence.

GD – Indi Venables. This is Indi’s first year of seniors after returning from a knee injury. She is quite often tasked with matching the opponent’s best player, and does so with great grit and 100 per cent determination. Her long arms, combined with her agility provide her team with multiple intercepts and opportunities all day.

GK – Chloe Long. Captain. Our tall timber in the backline who always wears her opponent down. Can be relied upon for rebounds and many gains with a great ability to read the play. Will talk all day and is always her teammates biggest fan.

Kasey Venables – The Div 1 super shooter who has saved the day on several occasions this year with her phenomenal accuracy and movement. An amazing talent who is one to watch in the future.

Ava Copping – Another extremely talented junior who has shown huge growth as a netballer this year. A beautiful midcourter whose greatest strengths are reading the play and feeding the goalies.

Heidi Berkin – At only 15 years of age, Heidi has a huge netball career ahead. She is an aerial and speedy defender who can also float up in the forward line if required.

In the B grade will be:

Sarah Eustace – A No fuss Goalie or a killer defender.

Teegan Galpin – A matriarch of the goal circle. Unbelievable shooting range, Defenders worst nightmare.

Aimee Lepley – A strong and zippy player with a killer shot at goal.

Amanda Wurst – The ginger ninja! Amazing drive. A player with alot of heart.

Jessica Blackmore – The voice and run of the team, always gives 110% .

Hannah Klemm – Versatile! Gives every game her all. A driving force through the mid court and defence.

Mandy Gartner – Captain. A true leader. A strong relentless defender.

Jessica Lucas – A quick and quiet defender who gives her all. Loves a good intercept.

Kim Wilson – Coach. Natural leader in defence. A strong hold and quick feet.

Only has eyes for the ball and loves the challenge.

In the C grade will be:

Sarah Pitt: Full back of the team always there for the rebounds and amazing turnovers with her go, go, gadget arms.

Amelia Henry: The youngest player fresh out of juniors with some great height in the defence line.

Ella Hutchesson: Young gun of the team all arms over balls in the defence line making it hard to get past also great drive down the court out of defence.

Maddie Copping: The happy go lucky player willing to listen and take on her role. Always does what’s needed to be done.

Tammie Berkin: Coach of the team with a wealth of knowledge and experience. A great asset to the C grade side.

Monique Maney: This girl has the most energy in the team just runs and reoffers all game down the whole court. Most consistent of the League.

Katie McPherson: Captain of the team always got the happy vibes to give to the team. Great feeder on the circle to the goalies.

Alice Auld: C grades Best and Fairest of the league. New to the Eagles and we are so lucky to have her and to take on the challenge this year as a first time goalie.

Shak Summerhayes: Another young gun in the side, tough as nails. Hard on the ball at all times and got a great shooting ability too.

Jess McIntyre: Joint coach of the team. Our one and only versatile player of the team. If she’s not in the defence she’s in the attack but nothing fazes her ability.
