A woman has escaped serious injury after she crashed on the Riddoch Highway.

Police were conducting speed detection duties at Lochaber when they detected a black Mitsubishi Outlander station wagon travelling south – allegedly at 142km/h in a 110km/h zone – at about 8.30pm on Friday, April 12.

The driver crashed into a drainage ditch shortly after being allegedly detected speeding by police.

A 25-year-old woman from New Zealand was taken to the Naracoorte Hospital by ambulance where she was treated for minor injuries and a sample of her blood was taken.

She was reported for exceeding the speed limit and driving without due care, police said.

She may face further charges once her blood sample has been forensically analysed, police added.
