B GRADE: PENOLA 59 D MUNDULLA 34

A STRONG start from the Penola B Grade girls saw them put the first three goals on the board.

Mundulla than settled into the game and scores where level by quarter time.

Penola worked hard to stay with Mundulla in the second quarter, then went on a blitz in the second half, easily outscoring Mundulla off a few turn overs, with Teegan Galpin capitalising on them.

In the last quarter Penola pushed away to record a good win.

Best for the Eagles were Keryn Moore and Galpin, with Michelle Leach and Maddie Davey best for Mundulla.

C GRADE: PENOLA 49 D MUNDULLA 29

THE C Grade played the grand final rematch, but with two new sides.

A whole new Penola roster settled in well and took control of the contest early.

Hayley Grigg made some clear drives through the middle and had an impact in defence.

Stella O’Brien and Sarah Gartner worked well in the circle and continued to make it hard for Mundulla.

Alex Lambert made her return to the court in style with good support from Aimee Lepley.

In the end it was a comfortable win to kick the season off.

Best players for Penola were Grigg and Lepley, with Dora Blieschke and Matilda Jefferies best for Mundulla.

DIVISION 1: MUNDULLA 42 D PENOLA 33

IN Division 1, Penola came out strong to be one goal up at the first break.

However, with no changes made to either side, Mundulla came out stronger and more polished in the second term to take the lead by eight at the main break.

Macey O’Brien was composed through the mid-court to settle the Eagles after numerous changes were made at the main break.

Unforced errors cost Penola the game, but coach Robbie was happy with the girls’ effort for a new team.

Ella Skeer worked tirelessly all game to provide plenty of options in attack and Stella O’Brien played a captain’s game to earn them both best players.

Best for Mundulla were Kida Schneider and Jacqui Altus.

DIVISION 2: PENOLA 38 D MUNDULLA 10

IT was a confident start from Penola in Division 2, with tight defence down the court resulting in multiple intercepts and great movement from the goalies to capitalise, taking them to a strong lead.

The second half saw a number of positional changes for Penola, but the girls settled well despite increased pressure from Mundulla and were able to finish off the game with a solid win to open the season.

Best players for Penola were Lily Hackwill (Toffee and Treats) and Ava Briggs (Millicent Sportspower).

Best for Mundulla were Alissa Carter and Myoh Colwill.

13A: MUNDULLA 50 D PENOLA 16

Both sides began the 13A division even and fairly contested, before a polished Mundulla took the game away.

The Penola girls improved each quarter as theybecame more familiar with each other.

Sophie Pearce and Ruby Hackwill were named best for Penola, with Willa Durbidge and Eve Rowett best for Mundulla.

13B

THE Penola girls came into the first match of the season enthusiastic and ready to win.

They worked well together with lots of intercepts and clever passes that gave them a steady lead going into half time.

Mundulla fought back in the third quarter, leading them into three-quarter time with a one point lead.

However, Penola switched on tight defensive pressure in the fourth quarter, which helped them secure the win by a goal.

Best for Penola were Kira Pitt and Dya Aulukh, with Erin Altus and Khloe Carman best for Mundulla.

13C

EXCITED was an understatement for the 13C girls.

The smiles and enthusiasm from was energising and they played hard all game, working on their leading and passing.

Their defensive efforts were fantastic, with many turnovers all over the court.

Best players for Penola were Chloe Grosvenor and Laila Raidis sponsored by Toffee and Treats.
