SEXY As S**t (SAS) have recently dropped a music video to their latest track ‘White Rabbit.’
The video is the second video release for the duo, Josh King and Michael “Cowboy” Collins, after home-shot “Sweet Petunia,” making “White Rabbit” the first video set out to be made from scratch.
The SAS duo spent the weekend in Adelaide for the filming with Bianca Hendy, assisted by partner Cassie Brennan.
Some location ideas were scouted prior to the shoot day, and on the day it was a trial and error approach as they moved around trying the various locations.
The notable bright white and hot pink outfits worn in the video by the duo were as usual, on brand.
“We were going for a Miami Vice type vibe which we think suited the song,” Mr King said.
As for a message or story, Mr King said that wasn’t the intent of the video, and said its purpose was more just to make something fun.
“We just wanted to make a visual companion to the music which matched the energy and sound of the track,” he said.
““Electronic hedonism” is the best way I can describe it.
“The ending of the clip was something that came to us on the film day which we were thankful for, as it ties the whole thing up nicely,” Mr King said.
Following the release of the video, both Mr King and Mr Collins were relieved to have it completed and couldn’t wait for people to be able to start watching it.
“We are both so excited to release the video, we’ve loved the whole process and it feels so great to finally share it with everyone,” Mr King said.
“We hope everyone enjoys watching it a fraction of the amount we enjoyed making it.
“Shout out to Bianca Hendy and Cassie Brennan for all their hard work making us look so dope!”
Ms Hendy, singer/guitarist for Chelsea Manor, took on the challenge of filming, directing and editing the music video.
Mr Collins shares the stage with Ms Hendy as drummer for Chelsea Manor, and had mentioned to Ms Hendy about making a music video for ‘White Rabbit.’
Despite no prior experience in videography, she wasn’t held back from giving it a shot.
“I’ve always loved it, I find when I’m listening to a song I’m visualising my own music video to it,” she said.
With the expectation that video production was an expensive operation, Ms Hendy had previously delayed her exploration of videography.
“I thought “well what if I just start?” I have a phone, I have editing software,” Ms Hendy said.
“I’ve been applying that mindset to a lot of areas, but this is something I really enjoy.”
Ms Hendy said there were little challenges along the way, but it’s all a learning curve.
“I learnt heaps this time around and that won’t stop anytime soon,” she said.
“The main challenge was the 40 plus degree day, it was less sexy and more sweaty as sh*t.”
She was overall happy with the final result, especially as a first time experience.
“It’s awesome and I hope others like it as well,” she said.
“I’m stoked my first project was with my friends, it makes all that more sweet.”
The highlight for Ms Hendy? “Getting to spend the day listening to ‘White Rabbit’ on repeat, obviously.”
