Penola Football Club take on Border Districts in Round 5 of the Kowree Naracoorte Tatiara Football League in Frances this Saturday.

The encounter is set to be a tight-contest with both sides hoping to claim their second win of the season.

The home side enter the game off the back of a competitive performance against league-leaders Lucindale, where they lost by 37 points.

Penola will be going into the game with hopes of finding consistency as they look to build towards the future.

“I think a big thing for us to focus on is our consistency,” Penola coach Brad Maney said.

“Our first four rounds have been bad, good, bad, good.

“So I would like us to string two good performances together and that’s how we will approach training.

“We did film the game on Saturday, so we will do a lot of video analysis to help the boys see their own game from a different viewpoint.”

Both sides have struggled for consistency this season and a close contest is expected.

“I’m expecting them to be very competitive,” he said.

“I know they recruited a good footballer in Dylan Auciello.

“They’re going to be approaching the game as an opportunity for them to win, as we are and it’s going to be very tough.

“If we play with the level of effort that we did on Saturday, then I think we will be around the mark.”

Penola will enter the game without Sam Klemm after he picked up an injury during their loss to Bordertown.

“Sam Klemm unfortunately really hurt his foot early in the game,” Maney said.

“He’s been enormous for us all year so we will miss him.

“We’ve still got a few boys that are a couple of weeks away, but I’m hoping to play and Jacob Pfitzner should be back next week, so we should arguably have a better side on paper, but we will see what the week brings.”
