AFTER a hard-working off-season the Glencoe Netball Club is eager to take on the challenge of the 2024 season.

The A Grade side will again be coached by Sarah Edwards who hopes to outdo their third place finish in a disappointing 2023.

The side welcomes the inclusions of Caitlin Hentschke and Ashlea Pfitzner who both return from seasons off due to pregnancy.

These inclusions will bolster the experience of the team, with the majority having put in a good time now as a core group.

The loss of youngster Chelsea Owen to rival club Hatherleigh will shake up the line-up.

With five familiar faces from the 2022 premiership season and a versatile team, the girls look set to push hard again this year.

April Von Duve has stepped up to coach the A Reserve side after being sidelined with a knee injury.

Despite losing the goalie combination of Abbie Cocks and Laura Childs, the side is looking to settle with the pick ups of South Gambier’s Alannah Clayton and Sam Cordy of Shepparton.

The addition of Zoe Mulraney entering her first full year of senior netball will be one to watch.

In the B Grade there has been a large turnover of players with five new members to the team – Emma Greenfield returns to the club, Giaan Ferguson transitions from Under 17s and the pickups of Isobel Giddings, Kate Edmonds and Gemma Kemp make for an exciting new squad.

Sally McDonnell returning from an ankle injury and Greenfield are teaming up to coach the side and hope to continue the club’s success within the B Grade.

Julia Jones is again taking on the role of B Reserve coach with a young side in tow.

With half of the side eligible for juniors or in their first year of senior netball, the team is filled with excited energy.

The girls look forward to developing their skills into the senior ranks and will be steered by experience from the likes of Lauren Kenny.

Strong numbers throughout the junior levels paired with some new coaching experience sees the junior teams in good stead.

The 13 and Under side will again be one to watch.

After finishing runners-up in the 2023 season, the girls are excited to push themselves towards another finals campaign.

Previous A Grade player and coach, Gail Richards has taken on the role of 13 and Under coach and has already passed plenty of wisdom onto the young girls.

The side welcomes a large number of players from Junior 1s who are ready to tackle competitive netball.

Co-coaches Kim Phillips and Nicole Hawke are taking on the 15 and Under side.

After a tough 2023 season the girls have improved nicely in early trainings and with some more consistent playing time, will look to get some more wins under their belts this year.

The 17 and Under side is again coached by Leona Mulraney.

From last year’s side five players have moved up to the senior ranks which makes for an exciting prospect for our up-and-coming players.

McKayla Maney in her first year of Under 17s and the height of Alyssa Medhurst will be important to the teams success.

The Junior 1 and 2 sides are excited to hit the court in maroon and gold and this year are coached by Sam Brierley and Laura Childs respectively.
